NYC, the concrete jungle where Jay-Z’s dreams are made of and where there’s nothing you can’t do. That is definitely true! After scavenging the city for the best dessert houses Manhattan can offer, eat cookies and ice cream for breakfast, lunch AND dinner I finally found them!
Here is my list of Top 5 desserts that one can eat in the Big Apple :
5. Serendipity III
The infamous restaurant located at 225 East 60th Street, between Second and Third avenues in New York City, by Stephen Bruce in 1954. This may be New York’s best-kept secret … Frrrozen Hot Chocolate!
As confusing as it may sound) it tastes quite the opposite. Featured in the movie Serendipity, this rich chocolaty cold drink is a MUST. One word of advice, you have to queue for 2 hours so… book in advance to make sure you don’t freeze to death whilst waiting for a frozen drink!
4. Black Tap
If you haven’t heard of Black Tap’s Milkshake you have most definitely seen them on Instagram! Black Tap is whipping up the mega milkshakes of everyone’s
wildest dreams, from $7 to $12.
Think layers of frozen ice cream, soft fudge, crispy doughnuts, colourful sprinkles, classic American candy and chunks of cake…. You’ll definitely want to head over to 529 Broome Street (between Sullivan and Thompson streets) and stand in the queue for a mere 25mins. They don’t take booking so be ready to wait.
3. Dominique Ansel Bakery
What is a Cronut?
If you have never tried a Cronut head over to taste the unique creation by Chef Dominique Ansel that has described as a croissant-doughnut hybrid. creativity. The Cronut is a household name at this point, but there are still lots of reasons to drop by Dominique Ansel’s Soho bakery.
His cookie shots with milk, they are only served to start at 3 p.m., are a twist on an after-school snack. The ooey-gooey cookie cup is coated in chocolate to make it water-tight, then filled with a shot of vanilla-infused milk. And, unlike its famous sibling the Cronut, you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to get your hands on them 😉 Head over to 189 Spring Street (Between Sullivan and Thompson Streets) early in the morning for Cronuts or at 3 pm for cookie shots!
2. 10 Below
Hellloooo frozen sweet handmade goodness!
Think of a show made in front of your eyes all made of soft smooth icecream. From Smores Galore to I Like you a Latte flavours made bespoke for you, you eat rolls of frozen goodness! Topped with toasted marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate sauce and much more, this is the way to go if you want a cool sweet treat…. or just a bye bye diet 😏 So head over to 42 1/2 St Marks Place, East Village or one of their many other locations !!!
1. Levain Bakery
These cookies are the stuff of legends!!
Honestly think gooey, soft, flavourful cookies you get after a 1-hour wait warm straight from the oven in a paper bag. Just the way we like it!! Every ball of cookie dough is weighed before it’s placed on baking sheets to make sure it clocks in at 6 ounces. Founders Constance McDonald and Pamela Weekes found that’s the maximum size the cookies can get to stay crisp on the outside and gooey—to the point of being like molten dough—on the inside. Any larger and the outside starts to burn = Food Porn.
Only 4 flavours but trust me it’s enough considering each is 538 and 606 calories 😋 With a chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip walnut—the overwhelming bestseller is chocolate chip walnut, and each one will set you back $4.
SOOOO ….. head over to 167 West 74th Street
Keep Reading 😉
